What are cookies?

Cookies are text files created by a web server and stored on your device (e.g. phone, tablet, computer) via your browser. When you return to the same website at a later date, the browser sends the stored cookie back and the server retrieves all the information it has previously stored on your device. The device is then recognised and we can tailor the site to the visitor (for example, displaying the correct language version of the site). Cookies are used by the vast majority of websites.

How cookies are divided

Cookies can be divided into two major categories, with many subsets of:

  1. First party cookies - these are limited to the domain of the website you are viewing. These cookies are considered more secure.
  2. Third party cookies - these are placed by a script from another domain. This allows users to be tracked across domains. They are most commonly used to evaluate the effectiveness of advertising channels.

According to their durability, cookies can be divided into:

  1. Short-term (session cookies) - stay on a browser and retain your information until it is closes. When a new browser window is opened, the same user is treated as a new visitor.
  2. Long-term (persistent cookie) - they remain on your computer after you close your browser, but are only deleted after a very long period of time (this depends on your browser and cookie settings). You can also delete them manually.

The use of cookies can be categorised as follows:

  1. Technical - they enable the basic functions of the website (e.g. logging in) or pages (e.g. playing videos, sharing content, etc.) They are therefore necessary for the correct functioning of the website or so that we know whether you have (not) given your consent to the processing of cookies, etc.
  2. Analytical - used to collect non-anonymous data about user behaviour. Based on this, we can adapt the website to make it easier for you to use.
  3. Marketing - collect information to tailor the advertising offered to the interests of the customer or to target ads to users who have already been to our website. We can use them to evaluate the success of campaigns.

You can find specific cookies and more information about them directly in the table below.

When we can use particular cookies

We may work with technical and functional cookies on the basis of legal regulations. Without them we would not be able to display the site to you correctly and securely.

We can only process analytical and marketing cookies on the basis of your consent. This is up to you and you can take it back at any time.

How to modify cookies

The easiest way to refuse cookies is not giving your consent to processing. You can further modify the use of cookies through your browser settings. If you view the website in the so-called anonymous mode of the browser, cookies will also not be stored anywhere. You can find out more about deleting or blocking cookies for individual browsers here (to be done for each of your devices):
